Eggs, salsa, soup and cookies!

This was an interesting week full of many cooking experiences and tasty dishes.

The Foods 10 classes made a batch of Mango Avacado Salsa to include in the recipe for Poached Eggs Mexicana.  Since poaching an egg turned out to be very a diffcult task, even for the teacher, the students were given the choice to cook their eggs in which ever way they preferred. Some students were so excited about this assignment that they brought their own eggs to give them more practice cooking and more eggs to eat.  The results were wonderful as is displayed in the pictures.  For this week's blog, please nclude in your paragraph a discussion about eggs and the variety of ways they can be cooked.

This week the PAA 9 class took a closer look at reading recipes and practiced mise en place. The recipe chosen to make this week was Crispy Oatmeal Cookies.  The cookies turned out very well and sent a wonderful aroma into the school, which brought people into the foods lab wondering what we were cooking.  Just take a look at the great cookies below which, by the way, tasted as great as they look.  For this week's blog, please include in your paragraph a discussion about the importance of following recipes.

This week the Foods 30 class talked about and thought about soup.  A demonstration was given of how to cook soup without a recipe, which was followed by the students making their own favourite soups.  A variety of recipes were used and many great soups were made and shared.
